Well hello there, gentle readers (and I say that with a cheer, as I’m now starting to get a few of you). What, you may ask, is all this nonsense about? If you read this blog, what, goes the eternal question, is in it for you?

Sure, I’ve got an about page. But let’s do this right here and now. Freelance writers, I’ve been told for months and years now, must must must have a blog. They must must must establish themselves as experts and create that ever-elusive platform. I resisted for some time – what the hell kind of expert am I? Sure I make some lovely clients happy, and get some wonderful raves. But that does not a blog make. I rebelled against the prevailing opinions and rules, just as I find myself doing with other logic and rules governing the acts of writing, marketing, and more. All to surprising success.

And that’s where this came from. By quietly rebelling against some freelancing lore, I’m making my career work. By quietly rebelling against the old status quo in the outside world, including my relationships, my identity as a woman, my general conduct, and more, I’m making a unique and infinitely happier life. Perhaps by writing about all this, I’ll provide some thoughtful and thought-provoking resources for other writers. Perhaps by writing about this, I’ll provide an interesting and irreverent take for readers on ways to make their lives their own, and to get moving on that whole “pursuit of happiness” thing.

Writers: I invite you to read and comment, call me out and show your agreement. Non-writers: I invite you to think about your careers and ways to quietly rebel your way to success. And for all, I invite you to find some entertaining random information, unique takes on pop culture, ideas to ponder, and sparks for your creativity in all forms.

Thanks for stopping by.
