What the Frak is a QRW? (Part 2)

Hello again, readers. At the one-month mark for this here blog, I’m taking the opportunity to rework some categories, redefine my offerings, and generally plot out my next onslaught upon your eyes.
Let’s review. In the last month we’ve talked about rebellious methods for freelance success, and ways to nurture creativity, no matter your career. We’ve examined the freelance dress code, the trials and tribulations of publishing, the pain of traditional marketing methods, and more. We’ve also introduced a new concept to the world with word porn, ranted about the elections and women’s magazines, offered some great books to read, and instituted a Monday date for a creative kick in the ass.
This blog is geared towards you. In my last “What the Frak is a QRW” intro, besides getting to indulge my geeky BSG fandom, I stated:
Freelance writers, I’ve been told for months and years now, must must must have a blog. They must must must establish themselves as experts and create that ever-elusive platform. I resisted for some time – what the hell kind of expert am I? Sure I make some lovely clients happy, and get some wonderful raves. But that does not a blog make. I rebelled against the prevailing opinions and rules, just as I find myself doing with other logic and rules governing the acts of writing, marketing, and more. All to surprising success.
And that’s where this came from. By quietly rebelling against some freelancing lore, I’m making my career work. By quietly rebelling against the old status quo in the outside world, including my relationships, my identity as a woman, my general conduct, and more, I’m making a unique and infinitely happier life. Perhaps by writing about all this, I’ll provide some thoughtful and thought-provoking resources for other writers. Perhaps by writing about this, I’ll provide an interesting and irreverent take for readers on ways to make their lives their own, and to get moving on that whole “pursuit of happiness” thing.
This is where I’m coming from, and where I invite your participation. Writers: try some marketing/writing/publishing tips, vent your frustrations, and join me on my journey. Non-writers: spark that nascent creativity, and/or encourage its growth. Here you’ll find inspiration in the form of the written word, and some methods to quietly rebel your own way to success. And for all, I invite you to find some entertaining random information, ideas to ponder, and creative encouragement in all forms.
