March Madness and the Rebel Among Us
Well played, especially for someone with a near complete lack of coordination. The battle is over for QRW in the March Madness at Writer’s Resource Center, and it was a thrill to be part of it. Continue checking out the games - some great blogs being highlighted!
A note to my readers: John hit on what I hope is the unique and interesting aspect of this blog, being rebellious to achieve success in work and life. That’s what I plan on providing to you when you take the time to stop by, subscribe to a feed, and read and comment on a post. You’ll get some useful tips about your own freelance and/or creative success, and hopefully be entertained and stimulated (oo la la!) along the way.
If you have ideas or personal stories to share about your own quiet rebellion, send them my way. If you disagree with a post, or a focus, let me know. Check out the categories on the side for some scintillating post-age. As always, thanks for stopping by. And stay classy.
I’d be interested in your thoughts about writing and communications groups; which ones you belong to and why; which ones offer the best bang for the buck; what you think of these groups culturally, etc. I’ve joined and quit various organizations for various reasons over the years. Some I belong to almost exclusively for Web access. I don’t attend the meetings of some groups because the members are pretty uptight and a little out of touch. What do you think, oh guru of the written word?
April 3rd, 2008 at 1:35 pmOne more thing, I’d be interested in why you don’t belong to certain groups as much as why you do. Thanks again.
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:07 pmHi Sherree! Great idea. I can definitely see a good post in that. Initial thoughts are very much along the line of yours, but I can also see some value in a few groups. I’ll think more about it…
And way to suck up with the “guru” tag. I love it
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:33 pmRebellion will make you strong! Thank you for competing.
John
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:34 pmYou like that? I thought you’d like “guru.” I look forward to your blog.
April 3rd, 2008 at 3:18 pmI disagree with John’s assessment regarding your rebellion. Being rebellious just to be rebellious and market it seems to be overkill - and from reading your blog, it seems you rebel when it’s needed and stick to convention when it’s best to do so. I’d also be interested to hear about your involvement with groups, as well.
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:26 pm@John - Thanks for the opportunity, and the nice publicity you’ve brought my way. And keep on giving us the great content you always do at your blog.
@Sherree -
@Charlie - Thanks for the perspective, Charlie. I definitely agree - I don’t want to be provocative just to be provocative. I want to show how rebelling at times (and in surprising ways) is a highly rewarding endeavor. I’ll keep that focus in mind as I continue to blog. Thanks, as always!
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:30 pmIt was really great to go to Poewar (a site I frequent often) and find the March Madness of Blogs. Searching for them with a search engine gets tedious. It attracted me, anyway.
I think I’ll spend my next few moments exploring the site.
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:24 pmHi Charlie. I agree that you shouldn’t be rebellious just to be rebellious. I just want to see more focus on alternative ways to do things. I think that is this blog’s real strength.
April 5th, 2008 at 2:47 pm@John - thanks for piping in. And I’m definitely mulling over your advice. Gracias.
