Quiet Rebel Writer

I greet this Monday after a long string of days where I treated my body quite badly. Partying with an out of town visitor, a dear friend I only see a few times a year, so we party it up right when we do, will do that. But surprisingly I’m up, I’m working, and I’m positive. The perfect time to consider quitting.

Oh no, my dear readers, I’m not talking about quitting my job, or this blog, or you (I just can’t), or this mortal coil. I’m talking about our weekly theme, where we consider the times when the act of giving up might actually be the best thing to do. The theme has even infiltrated our Monday Creative Kick, when we look at the masters and glean a bit of inspiration (and awe) from them.

Today’s choice comes from Aimee Mann. An accomplished songwriter, with a yearning and burning soul-filled voice, she provided the music for the Paul Thomas Anderson masterwork “Magnolia.” One song dances with our weekly theme in the tricky realm of the heart, and gives a nice creative punch in the gut.
