Writing that Rocks

Ah, Dave Grohl. How I love thee. I’ve seen you and your mighty Foo Fighters three times, and you never disappoint. I still remember when my best friend’s boyfriend (now husband) reached out and touched you as you ran by during a concert, then wiped your sweat on my arm. I felt so *sniff* close to you…

I digress. The reason I dig my Dave so, besides his endless capacity to entertain, his undeniable voice, and his scorching hotness, is the wit and wordplay in his songs. He’s a master at making a hard rocking song heartbreaking and/or dumbfounding.

One of my all-time favorite songs (EVER!) is from their 1997 The Colour and the Shape. Besides some lyrical loveliness, there’s also a befuddling and bemusing video that showcases their sense of humor:

Word Porn is getting nutty. This week we looked at obnoxious rhymes, rally banners, German hangovers (mein gott!), and breathlessly awaited revivals. You gotta get over there and see what will happen next!
